Verdict: second place, and easier than Tristan
Grant costs 712 diamonds, 310 less than Tristan at 1022. He has 32 steps, 9 of them free, and Season 1 costs only 173 diamonds. The bigger bills wait until the ends of Seasons 2 and 3.
Where the diamonds go
Season 1 is sixteen steps, seven of them free, and nothing above 23. It starts with "Ask Grant for a ride." for 18 in Episode 1.
Season 2:
- Episode 9, Coming to a Head: a 100-diamond choice, after "Initiate something." for 44.
- Episode 5: "Kiss him. Below the belt.." — 48.
- Episode 2: "Grant." for 12 and the "Linen Cut" look for 34.
Season 3:
- Episode 10: "Pull Grant into bed." and "Go with Grant." — 77 each, 154 for the episode.
- Episode 5: the "Striped Button-Down" look — 32.
- Episode 8: "Reassure Grant." for 8 and "Accept his gift and reciprocate his love." for 30.
How I'd play it
Pay Season 1 as it comes. I'd keep Season 2, Episode 9 and Season 3, Episode 10 for Diamond Rush on separate slots: 298 diamonds, and the route drops to 414 out of pocket. The two looks are 66 diamonds you can skip if you only want the scenes. Compare with Tristan or James.
