How many steps does Darren's route have?
Just 3, all in Season 1. It's a short route, which cuts both ways: you're not nickelling-and-diming your way through a whole season, but you also get very few chances to build anything. There are no free steps at all — 0 of 3 — so every beat of this romance is behind a paywall. Rudy and Dex are the other love interests in this story if you'd rather spread your diamonds around.
Where diamonds decide it
The first gate comes early: Season 1, Episode 1, "Talk to him." for 64 diamonds. Miss it and you've already skipped a third of the route. Then Season 1, Episode 11, "Grabbed his hand." for 51 — the cheapest step. The priciest is the finale, Season 1, Episode 13, "I'm curious." at 68. In total: 183 diamonds.
Can you do it for free?
No. With 0 free steps, a free-to-play run means no Darren content at all. If you're saving diamonds, this is a route to skip deliberately rather than half-play — buying Episode 1 and stopping gets you one scene and nothing else.
